MARY DID YOU KNOW?

Image
Mary, did you know? Mary (mother of Jesus), you have heard the word of God tell you the news and confided in your cousin Elizabeth who also was with child. Mary's child was a tiny cell a small foetus. Women won't have had the technology, skill and knowledge we have today. Mary relied on the confidence of Elizabeth, first to tell her the news that she had been chosen by God to carry his child. Secondly Mary may certainly have relied on Elizabeths experience as she was further on in her pregnancy than Mary; There weren't any self-help manuals around back then. It was far too risky for her and Joseph to reveal the truth. Can you imagine if Social services were around back then, the scandal and protocols that would have been implemented. God made the impossible possible, through the baroness of Elizabeth and the miracle through Marys conception, two humble woman of God. Of all the women, God showed his favour and trust in Mary, and Elizabeth acting as Mary's mentor. M...

PRAYER FOR FRIENDS

Image
PRAYER FOR OUR FRIENDS Dear Lord, We fall to our knees; As we pray to you for friends, Those friends facing tough times, The ones facing uncertainties. The ones who give of themselves, Friends, with willing open hands, Our friends experiencing a loss, Those so loving and gracious. Friends walking in various seasons, For those friends who understand us, The friends who share in our joys, That mate who shares in our sorrows. May we be to them, as they are to us, For our life long and newest friends, Each of them, we give you thanks, All are unique and precious. This is my prayer for our friends, In the precious name of Jesus; AMEN  Written by Sarah Joy Holden  🙏🙏🏾🙏🙏🏼🙏🙏🏿🙏 https://www.friendsinternational.uk/ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Prolific-Poetess-writes-realities-life/dp/B0FCS37KWS#detailBullets_feature_div

ALIVE AND KICKING

Image
I am not sure how long a poem should be, long enough to keep the reader interested. Unfortunately for this one I got carried away. So it could only in my opinion be a blog post as well as a spoken word piece on my new favourite app suno.  This week I was accused of being a fake writer, using AI and claiming the work as my own, this is categorically untrue (some of you may have seen my Facebook post ). So I guess this genuine poem by myself is in response to that. It hurt at the time, but with the support of my fellow writers who came to my aid; it hasn't stopped me from writing. After all I am 'A prolific writer' even if I don't always write it write.' https://sarahjholden.blogspot.com/2025/11/fake-writer-update.html I don't mind if you lose interest half way through, it is why I have shared the recording and the printed version. I am aware some of my readers are visually impaired, and it helps them and myself hear it spoken aloud. I believe it maybe the long...

WOULD THEY GET HOME

Image
The story you are about to hear is true, and is based on the actual events that took place at time. However the characters names and locations have been changed, in order to protect their identities. It’s a dark Autumn November night, Melanie had just finished her long day shift at the local hospital. The pain in her feet was excruciating and she was extremely tired, all she wanted was to get home. On nights like these was when she wished she could drive. She loved her job at the hospital; but nothing would stop her quitting her role, unless the unforeseen was to happen. Melanie waited at the bus stop for the bus to come. Whilst she was waiting a gentlemen unfamiliar with the area arrived and asked if there was a bus due into town. 'Yes' Melanie replied, "it should be here in ten minutes." He was the type of gentlemen that was very chatty, she wished he would be quiet, she had gotto that frustrating tired stage. The man spoke of how where he lives in London there ...

JACOB'S SONG

Image
So, another poem became a song overnight; now a total of six poetry songs by this creative heart. Jacob's Ladder was a poem that wrote for another poetry challenge on the  KSW group. I've known the kids' song all my life, but reading the story yesterday surprised me to the little I knew about Jake. I always thought i was a physical ladder we were asked to climb, I hadn't realised it was a dream, Jake had that he lay his head on a stone to sleep. Isn't it funny what we teach and got taught in Sunday School often snippets of the good stuff. Life is definitely a new classroom of learning every new day. Full story can be found in Genesis 28:10 -17. It is amazing how God connects His word to our gifts of creativity and in our own understanding and development. A little bible nugget transforms itself into creative writing genres, art and expressive art such drama, music and dance. The critics can make it harder and harder for us to reach our creative full potential often ...

JUST BEFORE (LONG POEM)

Image
JUST BEFORE: BY SARAH JOY HOLDEN  Before we critise, give praise Before we withdraw, let us reach out Before we complain, may we encourage Before we look inwards - look out. Before we cast hate, show love more Before we teach, we must first learn Before we are served, first serve Before we surrender, let us try again. Before we run, first learn to walk Before seeking more, count our blessings Before we assume, seek the truth Before we are friends, we are strangers. Before we say goodbye, say hello Before we journey, seek the way Before we overlook, let us observe Before we end, we must begin. Before we speak, open ears to listen Before we agree, let us consider Before we leave, we have to come in Before we act, let us pray to our Father. ©️

THE UNKNOWN STRANGER

Image
THE UNKNOWN STRANGER He sits alone on the bench Looking out onto the street Strange faces pass him by Not one has time for him today. As the wind blows around him This seat is so uncomfortable Footsteps quickly pass him by Not one pauses for him today. This day turns into the night Merry souls stagger passing by To frightened to shut his eyes No one cares where he sleeps. A man the world once respected Now a soul forgotten in time His face now goes unrecognised No one seems to have time for him. As the sun now begins to rise Here alone he eternally sleeps Folk clickbait as he's carried away That man they daily passed by. He is alone in death as in life Strange faces file past his grave Wrapped up in their own reflections For a stranger they had no time for. For our God who loves a try'er He loves the one we call a stranger The kindness and grace of a saviour Through every passing hour. ©️Sarah Joy Holden The parable of the good Samaritan -  Luke 10:25-37 (niv bible)

WHERE GOD LEADS (x2 poems)

Image
GOD IS THERE TO Mountains and valleys The rivers and streams From seas to oceans God is right is there to. The forests to the fields Pathways to bridleways Roads that lead to lanes God is right is there to. From Earth to the skies The rocks to the caves In the desert to the hills Where I am God is there to. ©️ Sarah Joy Holden GUIDED BACK HOME  I couldn’t find the way to go, Until I saw you upper ahead. So, I hurried my pace to you, Where you heard me and turned. Hello you said, how are you? "I’m lost" said me, which way do I go. They replied why don’t you know, You’ve lived here all your life. I’ve never been this way before; It is all very strange to me now. Everything has change too much, I’m flummoxed which way I go. They said continue to go straight up, Take a left-hand turn and your there. I said my farewell and of I went again, But soon I lost my way once more. This road I have never seen before, Had they sent me the wrong way. Had I missed heard the instructi...

THERE ARE MANY ROADS (LONG POEM)

Image
THERE ARE MANY ROADS  By Sarah Joy Holden  There are roads all around us: Roads that are well travelled. There are roads all around us: Roads that are a costly mistake. There are roads all around us: Roads that lead to a dead end. There are roads all around us: Roads that are so strange. There are roads all around us: Roads that keep us connected. There are roads all around us: Roads that guide us home. There are roads all around us: Roads that are new and old. There are roads all around us: Roads that lead to adventure. There are roads all around us: Roads that aren't straight forward. There are roads all around us: Roads that are paved with grace. There are roads all around us: Roads that are straight and bend. There are roads all around us: Roads that test our patience. There are roads all around us: Roads that we've encountered. There are roads all around us: Roads that we have to navigate. There are roads all around us: Roads that are hard to find. There are roads all aro...

THE ULTERMATE CRAFTSMAN

Image
The concept of "God the craftsman" portrays God as a skilled artisan who creates and shapes the universe and humanity with wisdom and care. This idea is found in various context in the bible emphasizing God's creative power, ingenuity, and deliberate design in all things. In Genesis it depicts God as a craftsman who forms the world from chaos, using words and actions to shape the heavens, earth, and all living beings. Then in Exodus it says God empowers skilled artisans like Bezalel with wisdom and craftsmanship to build the Tabernacle and its furnishings. The Psalms often celebrate God's creative power and the intricate design of the natural world, viewing it as evidence of God's craftsmanship. The Prophet Isaiah uses the imagery of a potter shaping clay to illustrate God's power over his people and his ability to create and restore them. So, when I woke up this morning, God had already painted me a beautiful picture. A live image of Skies in blue and eart...

REUNITED WITH THE FATHER

Image
I was sat in my lounge this morning and I suddenly started thinking about being 'reunited with the Father.' Not so much our earthly fathers but that of our Heavenly Father. It also got me thinking about moments in the bible scriptures where we read about children and their fathers being reunited. The first that came to mind was Joseph and his Father, son of Jacob, known for his coat of many colours and his rise to power in Egypt (Genesis 46:28-34). Jacob believed that his son was dead, yet Joseph, who had become a high official in Egypt, reveals his identity to his brothers who had come seeking food during a famine. Jacob is overjoyed to learn that his son is alive and in a position of power. The reunion takes place in the land of Goshen, where Jacob's family settles. As I started thinking and reading about this account of being reunited with the Father another biblical story came to mind. The parable of the Prodigal Son, found in Luke 15:11-32, tells the story of a father ...

IN HIS TIME NOT MINE

Image
So, I rushed ahead when God told us to wait, I didn't listen to this simply instruction. In my hurrying I made noticeable errors, Therefore I now have to retrace my steps. As I walk along now taking my time,I see the scattered mistakes lying on the ground. Slowly retrieving them, putting them safely in my pocket. I carry them back home, safely laying them out on my work station. Before I set out to correct these damaged words, I remembered to pray and ask God to guide and to me. Here I am sat rearranging, proof-reading and speaking them out loud. In the silence I hear the lord again clearly speak. I intently listen, he says 'let me take the pen and let me write the things you need to hear and share.'  I obey my Father's will and recieve his Holy Spirit. And again I share His words, love through the creative things I write with his guiding hand on my pen. This is His gift to me to receive and to share. This time I am doing it in His strength - especially today when I ...

SHE'S A PUBLISHED AUTHOR

Image
It is my joy and and delight to annouce the much awaited poetry book by Sarah Joy Holden. The book is called 'Prolific Poetess'. This weekend just gone after many months of editing back and forth with the proof reader/editor, I found myself holding the paper version of my own word - Phew Praise God. The journey here wasn't easy and anyone who thinks it is clearly mistaken.   There have been endless sleepless nights, anxiety and stress in the process.  But there has also been much joy all of which has been a tremendous and glorious experience. I never realised what an enormous struggle publishing your book of anything would be. There have be some very lonely times mixed, emotions and moments of praise during this process. I know from fellow writers I'm not alone with these feelings. I wanted to give you the reader the best of my writing heart. My main beating heart belongs to the those I love dearly (two hearts in one). There is now the feeling that I have learned from s...

THE TRAVELLING STRANGER (Short Fiction)

Image
THE TRAVELLING STRANGER By Sarah Joy Holden It was a chilly late morning in February, and the railway station has just witnessed the early morning rush hour. Arriving at the station just after the rush hour commute is a young lady called Bernadette. Bernadette could have got an earlier train, but wanted to avoid the hordes of commuters jostling for their rush hour trains and the overcrowded platforms. Entering the familiarities of the station she headed onto the correct platform, here she waited and watched for the train’s arrival along with the other passengers. It wasn’t long before the train pulled into the platform, its doors opening and several passengers disembarked, before those waiting surged forward trying to board. Bernadette took her time letting a few people go before her. Finally she took her chance and boarded the train. She manages to find herself a window seat; thankful and surprised that she actually did even manage to get a seat on a train. It was a good i...

TOWN PARK PLEASURES

Image
Short Story by Sarah Joy Holden. Coral was a prolific writer in her mid-fifties living in the county town of Duvetdale. She lives opposite the beautiful town park where she often visits, either to the park itself or just as a cut through to the town centre. There is always something going on in town officially or non-official. Nobody misses a trick. It is a small town with a big community heart, everyone looking out for each other. On one particular damp and miserable day in December on a Wednesday afternoon: Coral was walking through the park on her way into town. As she walked through the park, a chorus of birds sang from the trees. They were making a right racket. Yet she couldn’t Identify them, because they were high up in the trees. She paused and sat on a park bench because a poem line had just entered her mind. You see Coral was a bit of a prolific wordsmith; it didn’t take much for her to come up with something. Wherever she went or whatever was happening she would always find...

WAITING IN THE HALLWAY (Devotional)

Image
WAITING IN THE HALLWAY: Devotion by Sarah Joy Holden READING : Revelation 3:8 "I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut". REFLECTION: Waiting in a hallway can be a period of anticipation or transition. It can be a time to reflect, observe, or prepare for what comes next. The hallway itself can symbolize a transitional space, a place to navigate before entering a new room or phase of life.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with waiting in the hallway, especially as you've tried every key in every door. In the hallway you'll always find a resting point,  quiet often chair. It is here, rest, wait, prepare ourselves. The right door will open at the right time or perhaps it can never be opened. You may knock on the door but never force it. For the door to open requires human patience and all things happen for a reason. Until God opens the right doors let's praise him in our hallways. So let be patient ...

THE WAITING

Image
This morning I have been just been reading a friends bible devotion, they were talking about 'waiting and the different aspects of waiting. This reminded me of a time recently when 'God the Father' reminded me to 'wait.' This inspired me to look deeper into the subject of waiting and explore this further both as believers and non believers. Psalm 33:20-22 “Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.” The English dictionary refers to waiting or wait as;  • stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or event. • stay where one is or delay action until (someone) arrives or is ready. • Be left until a later time before being dealt with. • A delay until a person's arrival. • remain in readiness for a purpose. Last year God kept telling me to especially at a writers retreat to 'WAIT' in releasin...
