JACOB'S SONG

So, another poem became a song overnight; now a total of six poetry songs by this creative heart. Jacob's Ladder was a poem that wrote for another poetry challenge on the  KSW group. I've known the kids' song all my life, but reading the story yesterday surprised me to the little I knew about Jake.

I always thought i was a physical ladder we were asked to climb, I hadn't realised it was a dream, Jake had that he lay his head on a stone to sleep. Isn't it funny what we teach and got taught in Sunday School often snippets of the good stuff. Life is definitely a new classroom of learning every new day. Full story can be found in Genesis 28:10 -17.

It is amazing how God connects His word to our gifts of creativity and in our own understanding and development. A little bible nugget transforms itself into creative writing genres, art and expressive art such drama, music and dance.

The critics can make it harder and harder for us to reach our creative full potential often with negative lies. Yet God sees and hears everything we create and sees it as a creative masterpiece, looks beyond or mistakes ( happy accidents) and gentlle guides us. through the process.

Ephesians 2:10 reminds us of this;Good works are works that are good, done for God's glory. They are good because they honor God and love people. They are works done for God's glory, by God's strength, because God commands.

CLIMBING JACOBS LADDER

As Jacob went to sleep one night
He dreamt he climbed a ladder
Counting the steps as he went
Climbing up higher and higher.

Waking from this his dream
He asked God what did it mean
Jesus said 'Jacob' I give this land
This land you've laid your head.

Climbing Jacobs ladder
Climbing higher and higher
Climbing Jacobs ladder
Going further and higher.

God took Jacob to his ladder
Where he ordered him to climb
Jacob trembled with fear
Looking down on a suffering world.

"I can't go" Jacob sobbed
I want to come back down
Was he unable to trust God
To see Gods plan was for good.

Climbing Jacobs ladder
Climbing higher and higher
Climbing Jacobs ladder
Going further and higher.

This ladder was indeed a dream
Stretching between earth and heaven
As up and down the angels came
Teaching Jake Gods promises.

What if we were to climb this ladder
Would we quake with Jacobs fear
If it leads to somewhere better
Putting our faith in our saviour.

Dear children of the living God
Are climbing Jacobs ladder
Like in this bible story shared
Trusting God - letting go of fear.

TEN YEARS A WRITER

  T oday I’m celebrating ten years since the start of my writing journey. It all started back in 2015. I had already many years of creativity behind me especially card making and embroidery. I never even considered ten years later I would become the writer I am today. It all started back in 2015, circumstances at the time weren’t great and often my frustrations would often be active or verbal. Several people in my home church including the pastor at the time Derek Hughes encouraged me to keep a written journal. It really helped me pen my frustrations down on paper than outwardly getting my frustrations out on others. During this season I really felt the presence of Jesus helping and guiding me. REUNITED WITH THE FATHER

I was sat in my lounge this morning and I suddenly started thinking about being 'reunited with the Father.' Not so much our earthly fathers but that of our Heavenly Father. It also got me thinking about moments in the bible scriptures where we read about children and their fathers being reunited. The first that came to mind was Joseph and his Father, son of Jacob, known for his coat of many colours and his rise to power in Egypt (Genesis 46:28-34). Jacob believed that his son was dead, yet Joseph, who had become a high official in Egypt, reveals his identity to his brothers who had come seeking food during a famine. Jacob is overjoyed to learn that his son is alive and in a position of power. The reunion takes place in the land of Goshen, where Jacob's family settles. As I started thinking and reading about this account of being reunited with the Father another biblical story came to mind.
