INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY

Happy International Women's Day 2020. To all the women who believe in us give us the courage to press on, see our worth when we can't see it for ourselves. Today we celebrate, all woman of every race, creed and nation; The Good, The Bad, The pretty, The Ugly. The Weird;  Weather famous or just people like ya mam or nan.

IWD was founded way back in 1975 In 1977, the United Nations General Assembly invited member states to proclaim March 8 as the UN Day for women's rights and world peace. After the Socialist Party of America organised a Women's Day in New York City on February 28, 1909, German delegates Clara Zetkin, Kate Duncker and others proposed at the 1910 International Socialist Woman's Conference that "a special Women's Day" be held annually. After women gained suffrage in Soviet Russia in 1917,  So then the 8th March, became a national holiday there.[The day was then mainly celebrated by the socialist movement and the former communist country's until it was adopted by the feminist movement in about 1967. The UN began celebrating the day in 1977, as it is today across the world.  International Women's Day today widely ranges from being a public holiday in some countries to being largely recognised elsewhere.

Teresa Bojaxhiu, commonly known as Mother Teresa and honoured in the Catholic Church as Saint Teresa of Calcutta; Once spoke these words "I alone cannot change the world, But I can cast a stone across the waters and create many ripples."

Thinking of Mother Teresa on this International Women's Day, it falls to mind of another woman of our time, who many saw as an inspirational icon and that was Lady Diana. Yet it is believed and spoken by some that Mothers Teresa did more in her life time for human kind, but ironically she died the week after Diana and it hardly got a mention as it still is so today. But still these inspirational woman, and many like them who changed different aspects of our world for the better.

Despite failures - You stand up, Despite Sorrow - You cheer up, Despite pain - you keep fighting, Good and faithful warrior.

In each of us there is a woman, who believes in and gives us the courage to press on, see our worth in times we may not be able to see it ourselves.  There are the inspirational women who often ask of nothing of themselves in giving or receiving, selfless, humble human-being.  There character we can call them Grace, for grace is something freely given and never misunderstood.  These woman should always be an inspiration to us all.

Other Woman who changed our world for the better, to you our internal thanks; Marie Curie 1867 -1934, Rosa Parks 1913 - 2005, Emmeline Pankhurst 1858 - 1928, Ada Lovelace 1815 -1852, Rosalind Franklin 1920 - 1958,  Angela Burndett-Coutts 1814 -1906, Mary Wollstonecraft 1759 - 1797,  Florence Nightingale 1820 - 1910,  Corrie Ten-Boon 1892 -1983, Queen Victoria 1828 - 1906, Queen Elizabeth II 1926 - to present, Mary Jones 1784 - 1864,  Gladys Alyward 1902 -1970, Betrix Potter 1866 - 1943.  And I'm sure there are many a more past, present and in the making of years to come, and YOU.   you may not be a world changer but you are the difference in someones world that your heart is close to.....

So to every woman, in every home, every heart, every feeling, every moment of happiness is made complete by having you in it.  You matter and let no one take that from you; "Happy International Women's Day..."
