SOME DOWN TIME

After a very busy and hectic morning serving in church kitchen on Sunday morning . I decided to have some down time to myself. So I went on a little train ride (a carriage to myself) on the Cambrian Heritage Railways. It's a short journey along the heritage line. I love the film,'the railway children' I think there may have been a little bit of the film in me today.

Cambrian Heritage Railways, in the heart of historic Oswestry, offers a journey through time with its railway museum, restored signal box, period ticket office, and more. Located near the town centre, market, and castle, the Oswestry station provides convenient amenities like a shop, toilets, and parking, making it an ideal starting point for exploring local heritage.

Heritage trains operate on selected days between Oswestry and Weston Wharf, featuring steam, vintage diesel, and diesel multiple units. The 1.75-mile scenic route leads to Weston Wharf’s period station with a café, picnic area, and railway artifact displays. Future plans include extending the line to Llynclys South station, with rover tickets allowing unlimited travel throughout the day.

I ask the conductor directions for walking back to town from Western Wharf. And where I found a new to me footpath, a little muddy in some places. I don't go for walks, I go on adventures. This was a route I wanted to find for sometime. When I got to Black Meadow Crossing I waited half an hour to see the steam train called austin come past I was now a five minute walk into town.

The train came came past and I carried on my way towards home. The sun was setting and it started to feel cold. My little feet were now starting to feel it. But I was feeling mentally and spiritually great.  I managed to capture some lovely photos and complete a three and a half mile walk.

Life can get busy, especially this time of year, if we're not careful we can take to much on and burn out; I realised that today.  I think most importantly we need to focus on what's important in your life and set priorities. Protect yourself by learning to say no to people and to put yourself first. We need to find a healthy balance, it isn't wrong to say 'No I'm sorry I can't' and say yes with out feeling guilty. The world won't stop just because we've not done everything.

So now we are in the last few days of 2024 and my prayer for each of us is that we can find space and time to recharge our batteries before the new season and term starts in January.
Thanks for your time in reading my blogs I appreciate it (don't forget you can leave a comment below). All that's left for me to do is wish you all a happy betwixmas and blessed new year.
