TURN AROUND
Personal poems with me that include myself and there are those that involve everyone. Sometimes my poetry includes Me and you which often loses the sense of who the poet is writing about. This has been pointed out to me several times. I have tried hard to be exact, who is in my poetry; is it my, strangers, or a group. My early writing used to just contain 'I or me' and I quickly became aware of this. The overwhelming sense that I was being selfish in my writing actually stopped me writing for a while. Persona in poetry refers to a literary device where poets create fictional characters or voices to express thoughts, emotions, and narratives, distinct from their own. I had to refocus, what direction was my writing going in. There was a clear indication that I was definitely not a story writer but a poet. But what or who was my poetry for.
